Jacobs-Chavez Moves Date and Location

A super middleweight fight between Daniel Jacobs and Julio Cesar Chavez is on the move in both the location and on the calendar.

Per Mike Coppinger of the Athletic, the fight will move from a December 13th showdown alleged to be in Texas, to what Boxing Scene indicated as a December 20th headliner at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As of Tuesday, a deal between the two sides had not been finalized, but they seem to be close as DAZN looks to make an announcement later this week of the fight airing on their platform.

This fight will mark not only Jacobs’s debut at super middleweight but his return to the ring since his May loss to Canelo Alvarez and the first fight he’s had in nearly six years without Andre Rozier in his corner.

This will mark the second fight for Chavez since his three-year sojourn from the sport following a unanimous decision loss to Canelo Alvarez in 2017, with his most recent fight being a first-round knockout of Evert Bravo this past August in Mexico.
