Jacobs-Derevyanchenko Go To Purse Bid

After Gennady Golovkin failed to come to a deal to fight mandatory challenger Sergiy Dervyanchenko, the IBF ordered the Ukranian to fight Daniel Jacobs for their vacant middleweight crown.

After negotiations which began June 11th became stalled to the point where Derevyanchenko’s promoter Lou DiBella sent a letter to the IBF, calling for an immediate purse bid.

The move by DiBella, which is permissible under IBF rules, have lead the governing body to schedule an IBF purse bid on July 5th at their offices in Springfield, New Jersey.

While Jacobs is promoted by Hearn, and Dervyanchenko by DiBella, both fighters are managed by Keith Connolly, and would receive an even split of the winning bid.

Per IBF rules, both sides can make a deal up until 15 minutes before the bids are unsealed.
