Jacobs Expects GGG To Beat Canelo

Even though Daniel Jacobs has Sergiy Derevyanchenko to worry about in their October 27th showdown for the IBF middleweight title, he has an opinion on who will walk out the winner of Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin’s highly anticipated rematch.

When asked at a press conference on Thursday, the Brooklyn born boxer would claim his former opponent, Golovkin, getting the win on September 15th.

“I just hope that the referee and the officials and everyone involved in that event can do it the honest way because there’s so much in this whole situation where it makes the sport look bad,” Jacobs said about how Golovkin and Alvarez 2017 fight ended

“It makes Canelo look bad and everybody involved in it, so I hope everybody can do the right thing. Especially with that last judge last time [Adalaide Byrd], we need to stay away from people like that.”

Jacobs believes that the issue for Alvarez is what will be his mindset and his style following his testing positive for clenbuterol in February of this year, while Golovkin will be the same aggressive fighter he has been.

“We don’t know how Canelo will be post-whatever, so we have to see. But I know Triple-G is gonna be the same. He’s gonna come forward – maybe do something a little different. I’m not sure, but I think it’ll be the same results, as far as him winning. I thought he won the first time as well.”
