Jacobs-Rozier End Partnership
After spending the past six years with Andre Rozier in his corner, Daniel Jacobs and his longtime trainer and mentor will no longer work together.
Following a May loss to Canelo Alvarez for the unified middleweight championship, some rumors came up that Jacobs would not retain Rozier for the latter’s return to the ring.
Rozier confirmed as much to Tha Boxing Voice on Saturday night, following the Usyk-Witherspoon card at the Wintrust Arena.
“No,” replied Rozier when asked if he’d be in Jacobs corner for his move up to super middleweight this December.
Rozier has guided Jacobs’ career since the 2013 death of Victor Roundtree, who had been guiding Jacobs since he was a teenager learning at the Police Athletic League in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn.
