Jailton Almeida Vs Curtis Blaydes Rescheduled For UFC 299 In March
UFC 299 in March just got a little more interesting, with the addition of a heavyweight matchup between Jailton Almeida (20-2) and Curtis Blaydes (17-4).
Blaydes was forced to back out of his originally scheduled bout with Almeida that was set to occur at UFC Fight Night 231 in November due to an injury. Derrick Lewis (27-12) stepped in to fill the void, but was not successful in pulling off the short notice victory, and lost to Almeida by way of a unanimous decision.

Almeida now finds himself on a 6-0 streak since joining the UFC in February 2022. Prior to his victory over Lewis, “Mahladinho” squared off with Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-5) and showed off the grappling prowess that he has come to be known for by securing a rear naked choke finish on his opponent in the back half of the first round.
Blaydes will hope to use this rebooked bout as an opportunity to bounce back, not just from injury, but also from the first round TKO loss he suffered to Sergei Pavlovich (18-2) back in April.
While the location of UFC 299 has not yet been officially announced, the expectation is that the even will take place in Miami.
