Jaime Munguia’s Next Opponent Possibly Revealed

Jaime Munguia’s next opponent could be announced soon.

Munguia, the former WBO Light-Middleweight Champion, was last seen in action back in October 2020. He defeated Tureano Johnson via TKO in the sixth round. Fight fans have been wondering what’s next for Munguia and we may have an answer.

Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions took to his Twitter account to tease some news regarding Munguia’s next bout.

“Next up is Golden Boy Promotions champ Jaime Munguia. Waiting on DAZN for the final confirmation and it’s on. Can’t wait for April to see our star in the making.”

Chris Mannix of DAZN revealed that Munguia is likely to meet Maciej Sulecki in April.

“Munguia-Sulęcki likely April 23rd or 24th, per sources. Florida emerging as a frontrunner, though details still being worked out.”

Sulęcki competed back in August 2020. He defeated Sasha Yengoyan via unanimous decision. It was a rebound win for Sulecki, who was coming off a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Demetrius Andrade.

In his 31-fight career, Sulęcki has only been beaten twice. Those losses were against Andrade and Daniel Jacobs. Sulęcki has not captured a world championship yet but if he can stun Munguia, he’ll be right in the mix.

The report of Munguia vs. Sulecki may come as a surprise to some. In early 2021, De La Hoya claimed Munguia vs. IBF and IBO Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin was in the works. Munguia did end up saying that he wanted to fight in April if nothing with “GGG” could be materialized.
