Jake Paul Hits 199.4 Pounds, A Career-High, For Bout With Andre August

Jake Paul weighed 199.4 pounds, a career heaviest, for his cruiserweight bout against Andre August on Friday.

Paul faces his second professional boxer as he aims to follow up on his win over Nate Diaz. His only test against a pro-boxer resulted in a loss to Tommy Fury via a split-decision. Unlike Fury, August is known for his come-forward style. Paul’s style involves boxing at range, so the extra weight could help when August attempts to get in on the inside. Paul’s weight was 16 pounds more than the Fury fight.

August came in at 198.6 pounds as he tries to pull off his biggest-career win. The following comments indicate that Paul is looking for a knockout, but there is a danger that the extra weight may slow him down as the fight progresses if he fails to get August out of the ring.

“Man, I just love this s***. It’s gonna be an absolute movie, I’m gonna out-box the boxer and he’s going to sleep,” Paul

“Man I’m ready, it is what it is, I’m ready. I’m gonna shock the world, I’m gonna put him down, I’m tired of all that talking, all that talking is over with, tomorrow it’s going down,” August

In the co-main event, Shadasia Green and Franchon Crews Dezurn weighed 167.2 pounds and 167.6 pounds, respectively, for their super middleweight clash. The vacant WBC belt is up for grabs after the current undisputed champion, Savannah Marshall, pulled out with an injury.
