Jake Paul Might Make MMA Debut

Just when the boxing pundits were doing the math to predict who Jake Paul will fight next, the Youtuber-turned-boxer revealed that he may switch to another combat sport in near future.

“I’ve got an announcement coming soon – I can just tease that,” he said on his podcast.

“I’m working with a big organization right now on a whole thing in MMA that also has to do with me fighting, and we’re going to have an announcement soon.”

The 24-year-old did not reveal who he will be fighting and under what card or organization, but he did hint at partnering with Javier Mendez, coach of the former undefeated UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I want to do it, and Javier Mendez said he would train me,” he added. “I’ll go to (American Kickboxing Academy). I probably need a year, year and a half, to get the kicks down. I already know jiu-jitsu. I want to be able to do everything in there – at least checking kicks. I know how to wrestle already.”

Paul’s rise to boxing has been unprecedented.

He has been undefeated in boxing so far, having beaten a former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, with a sixth-round right hook on December 18 in Tampa, Florida.

This was his fifth win on the trot since he launched his career against YouTuber Ali Eson Gib in 2020.
