Jake Paul Poised To Box Tyron Woodley Before Cleveland Audience On August 29
Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is set to make his boxing debut against YouTuber Jake Paul on August 29 (Sunday) at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
The duo will headline a Showtime Boxing pay-per-view card for the eight-round showdown that will take place at a 190-pound catchweight. On Tuesday, Paul and Woodley faced off for the second time in Los Angeles for a press conference. Jake Paul opened up about how this fight will make one of his dreams come true.
“I grew up going to Cavs, Browns, and Indians games on the weekends, dreaming as a little kid of one day being in a position to put on a show for my hometown like they did,” the 24-year-old said. “On August 29, that dream comes true. My biggest challenge to date, in front of the city that made me, on pay-per-view for the world to see me knock out a UFC champion.”
Paul is currently 3-0, having beaten NBA veteran Nate Robinson, YouTuber Ali Eson GibPaul, former Bellator, and ONE Championship champ Ben Askren.
His last fight against Askren in a Triller Fight Club boxing event made the fans realize that Paul is not joking around in his boxing stint as he knocked out the MMA star in the first round.
