Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Officially A Pro Fight

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson has been confirmed as an eight-round pro fight.

The fight occurs on July 20 after much speculation over whether it would be sanctioned as a professional bout. There were several worries over safety. Tyson will enter the ring as a 58-year-old who has not had a pro fight since being stopped by Kevin McBride in 2005. However, Tyson’s last time in the ring was a 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.

Paul is a much fresher and active fighter. The 28-year-old has two consecutive KO wins. Paul stopped Andre August and Ryan Bourland to give him his first wins over pro fighters. Paul and Tyson will wear 14-ounce gloves, with no head gear, and have judges lined up to make a decision.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome. Over the past six weeks MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to sanction Paul vs. Tyson and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point,” MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian

Tyson is taking the fight seriously, training up to three times a day. As we have reportedly previously, the boxer has imposed a ban on weed and sex to get him in prime condition. Roy Jones, the last man to have been in the ring with Tyson, warned Paul about Mike’s power.

“Mike Tyson is still the strongest puncher that I’ve ever been in the ring with. The first time he hit me in the chest, it felt like a mule had kicked me in the chest.  And if he hits anybody with a shot like that, they are either going out or down, especially guys who are not used to being hit like that. With these types of people like Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, these guys are bigger and can take it. But Jake Paul, I don’t think he’s going to be able to take that. It might hit him on the chin like that, we’ll see, but it’s going to be tough [for him],” Jones stated
