Jamahal Hill Withdraws From UFC 303, Carlos Ulberg Will Now Fight Anthony Smith

Jamahal Hill has withdrawn from the co-main event on the UFC 303 card against Carlos Ulberg after injuring his knee.

Hill was looking to bounce back from his first-round KO loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 300. The news is a double blow to the UFC after the main event featuring Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler was canceled and replaced by Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka. Ulberg, who is 11th in the rankings, will now take on Anthony Smith. Ulberg has won his last six fights with five stoppages. His previous fight was a stoppage win over Alonzo Menifield last month.

Smith is a tough test. He has 57 MMA pro bouts, as he missed out on the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to Jon Jones at UFC 235 in 2019. The 35-year-old has good striking and an impressive grappling game. He has 38 wins, with 20 by knockout. The co-main event will now be a clash between Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes. Ortega enters the fight with a win over Yair Rodriguez.

That was his first win in four years when he defeated The Korean Zombie in 2020. Lopes is in much better form, with three wins on the bounce. His previous fight was a stoppage win against Sodiq Yusuff at UFC 300. The several changes in the UFC 303 card have gotten fans talking.
