Jamie Pickett Discloses Reason Behind Submission Defeat

Jamie Pickett has recently revealed on social media how he thought he was on the verge of losing his tongue as he bit it during the fight.

He lost UFC Vegas 48 in the first round of the catchweight bout against Kyle Daukaus.

It was just the 4:59 mark of Round 1 when “The Nightwolf” tapped for submission.
The one key factor that forced him to embrace the defeat was that he was afraid that his tongue might be cut into pieces.

“Hey guys, no excuse from me. I did my best for the time I had and didn’t go my way.” Pickett took to his Facebook account. “Tongue got caught between my teeth. Felt like I was gonna cut it off so I tapped.”

“I’ll be back but this time with a full training camp,” he continued.

This match-up was not scheduled this way from the get-go.

Pickett was replaced by Julian Marquez on short notice. Marquez suddenly decided to discontinue his proposed middleweight fight. Hence, the fight was contested at a 195-pound catchweight.

This defeat ended Pickett’s two-fight winning streak where he got back-to-back decision triumphs over Laureano Staropoli and Joseph Holmes.
