Jan Blachowicz Targeted To Collide With Aleksandar Rakic In Main Event of UFC Fight Night
Jan Blachowicz will be in action for the first time since losing the light heavyweight title to Glover Teixeira at UFC 267.
Blachowicz will confront the No. 3 ranked light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic in the main event of UFC Fight Night on March 26. The news was first broken by Ariel Helwani on his Instagram.
The promotion has yet to make any official statement regarding the matchup, and the rumored card doesn’t yet have any announced venue or location.
But the few people working closely with the UFC have confirmed that the fight is under work and soon the promotion will release an official statement.
Blachowicz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, was dislodged from the top when he suffered a submission loss to Teixeira at UFC 267 in October. But prior to that, the Polish giant had an incredible run of five wins, which includes a title defense against the middleweight kingpin, Israel Adesanya.
Rakic, 29, will be looking to make a strong statement against the former champ and put up a solid case for the title shot in the coming year.
He is currently enjoying a two-win streak in the octagon, both coming against the former title contenders Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith, respectively.
He has been toppled only once in the octagon and that too was a split decision loss to Volkan Oezdemir in December 2019.
