Jan Blachowicz Targets Jiri Prochazka For His Next Fight After UFC 267
Light heavyweight king of the UFC Jan Blachowicz thinks that he and Jiri Prochazka’s potential fight should take place in Europe.
Neighboring European fighters Jan Blachowicz, from Poland, and Jiri Prochazka, from Czechia, are most likely to share the octagon if Blachowicz successfully defends his title against Brazilian fighter Glover Teixeira at UFC 267.
“Yeah, great run for him. He’s [Prochazka] a crazy fighter but in a good way,” Blachowicz said. “Crazy, wild style, but he know how to use it.”
“… If I have to fight with Jiri, we have to do this in Poland or somewhere in Europe. Because all Europe would like to come and see this fight live,” he added.
By defeating Dominick Reyes on a vacant title fight, Blachowicz became the champion of the UFC at the age of 37. After that, he defended his title against current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, serving him his first-ever loss in his professional MMA career. Adesanya tried to earn titles in two divisions.
Prochazka made a loud debut in the UFC.
In his debut, he brutally knocked out Volkan Oezdemi, a top contender, in the second round of the match.
Following the victory, he stepped in with former two-times title challenger Dominick Reyes and defeated him with a spinning elbow knockout.
“I hope nothing will change because when I beat Glover, maybe my next opponent will be Jiri. But this fight (has) to be not in Abu Dhabi, not in USA, in Europe,” said Blachowicz.
