It looks like UFC 259 will be headlined by a mega champion vs. champion fight.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports that UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will challenge Jan Blachowicz for the 205-pound gold. The bout is set to take place on March 6. Okamoto reports that UFC President Dana White delivered the news to him.

Adesanya is coming off a dominant second-round TKO victory over Paulo Costa. It was Adesanya’s second successful middleweight title defense. On that same night, Blachowicz captured the light heavyweight championship by stopping Dominick Reyes in the second round via TKO.
Blachowicz vs. Adesanya won’t be the only title fight on the UFC 259 card. UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Amanda Nunes will put her gold on the line against Megan Anderson. Also planned for the event is Aleksandar Rakic vs. Thiago Santos and former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz vs. Casey Kenney.
