Jared Anderson Beats Andriy Rudenko With A Fifth-Round Stoppage

Jared Anderson continued his rise up the heavyweight division by stopping Andriy Rudenko in the fifth round.

The 23-year-old walked out as Batman, and he responded emphatically to any criticisms over his last fight with Charles Martin after having gone the distance.

But this time around, ‘Big Baby’ was not hanging around. Rudenko looked lively in the opener, as he sought to make something happen.

However, Anderson quickly showed his superiority by connecting with a huge right hand to stagger the 39-year-old. It was clear that Anderson was the quicker fighter, as he landed first during any exchanges.

Shots to the body and head landed Anderson another round as it was one-way traffic. The American continued to attack the body, with shots to the right, left and centre of the midsection.

Rudenko had no answer to the onslaught, as Anderson landed eight body shots with no response. His jab simply kept the Ukrainian on the back foot.

The body shots had the impact of slowing down Rudenko, who paid the price in the fifth. Rudenko continued to hold, as he was docked a point.

And the inevitable then finally came. The shots to the body allowed Anderson to land a left and a right hand to the body. Rudenko was on the ropes, with no way out as the referee stopped the bout.

Reaction

“I’m enjoying the ride, enjoying the fights, and just doing my job. (Body shots) were part of the plan. We know you gotta start with the body and the head will fall. It worked.

“I was sending a statement to myself. I fight for myself and my family. If people want to hate on me for it, I’m a realist, and I’m going to stay real. I’m going to say what’s on my mind. Y’all can take it how you want, this is a business.

“This is a sport. I’m just doing my job. Take it how you want, but you can’t force me or want me to be somebody y’all want me to be. I’m gonna be myself and be that until the end,” Anderson
