Jaron Ennis Vs. Roiman Villa Preliminary And Undercard Live Results, Recaps: Marquis Taylor Dominates Yoelvis Gomez To Win By Unanimous Decision

Jaron Ennis defends his IBF interim welterweight title against Roiman Villa live from Atlantic City.

Ennis puts his impressive record on the line, which includes 30 wins with 27 knockouts and one no contest.

In his last fight, Ennis faced a tougher challenge than expected, securing a unanimous-decision win against Karen Chukhadzhian.

This time, Ennis is determined to secure a decisive victory. However, Villa, who has only one defeat on his record, is a formidable opponent.

Following his split decision loss to Marcos Villasana Jr, Villa has gained confidence with six consecutive victories and is now in contention for potential future fights against Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford, should he emerge victorious in this bout.

Co-Main Event: Yoelvis Gomez vs Marquis Taylor – middleweight

Marquis Taylor dominated Yoelvis Gomez to win by unanimous decision: 96-93, 96-93 and 99-90.

Taylor started the fight at a fast pace, as he put Gomez to the ground with a thunderous overhand right in the second round.

Although Gomez managed to rise up, it was followed by further right hands as Taylor dominated the early stages.

The story was much the same in the fourth. Taylor pushed Gomez back with another right hand. In response, Gomez targeted Taylor’s body in an attempt to gain success on the inside.

At the halfway stage, Gomez found some good success. A short crisp right hand hit Taylor to the head, but the latter fired back with a strong body shot.

During the seventh and eighth round, though, Gomez became more competitive. Good work on the inside was followed up by a left hand that got Taylor’s attention in the ninth.

However, with Gomez needing a knockout to win, he did land a right uppercut in the tenth. But in truth, Taylor outclassed his opponent to walk away victorious.

Official Result: Marquis Taylor def. Yoelvis Gomez via a unanimous decision: 96-93, 99-90 and 99-90

Edwin De Los Santos vs. Joseph Adorno – lightweight

In the lightweight clash, Edwin De Los Santos overpowered Joseph Adorno to obtain a unanimous-decision win: 99-91, 100-90 and 100-90.

From the off, De Los Santos took the initiative with his jab as he kept Adorno under control.

The jab quickly peppered Adorno’s eye which began to swell. The latter moved on the backfoot, but the combinations on Adorno to the head and body lit up the crowd.

Adorno had somewhat of a success in the fourth with some punches, but De Los Santos doubled down on his pressure.

At the halfway stage, it was clear that De Los Santos’ judgement of distance kept him out of Adorno’s punches as he became more comfortable.

In the seventh, De Los Santos landed with a counter right hook as the one-way traffic continued. So much so that the ringside doctor had taken a look at Adorno to judge his faculties in the eighth.

While Adorno continued on with the fight, the result was a foregone conclusion as the last two rounds were devoid of any major action as De Los Santos coasted to victory.
