Jaron Ennis will fight Roiman Villa on July 8th, 2023, as he puts his IBF Interim welterweight title on the line, from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Ennis (30-0, 27) is arguably one of the most-avoided welterweights out there, as potential fights with Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford have failed to materialize.
And as the latter duo face off for the undisputed welterweight title on July 29th, 2023, ‘Boots’ has turned his attention to Villa.
Villa will have to be at his best, as Ennis has stopped three out of his last four opponents: Sergey Lipinets, Thomas Dulorme and Custio Clayton.
“I know Villa is a straightforward fighter and that’s tailor-made for me.I can’t wait to shine and get these knockouts, man.
“Make sure you tune in on July 8th because I’m back. I always stay in the gym, say busy, and stay ready. Now it’s time to turn it up. I’m not playing no more.
“I’m still going to have my fun, but I’m not playing with these guys. I’m glad. I can’t wait. You guys are going to see something on July 8th,” Ennis said
Meanwhile, Villa (26-1-0) is more than an accomplished opponent having only lost one fight which was a split-decision loss against Marcos Villasana. Villa’s last two fights, though, were wins over Janelson Figueroa Bocachica and Rashidi Ellis.
Victory for either fighter would put them in a good position to fight for any potential welterweight titles, following the Spence-Crawford clash, especially if they are vacated.
