Pascal enters the upcoming bout with a good amount of confidence as he had a noteworthy performance and caused a minor upset by defeating the previously unbeaten Fanlong Meng in May of the previous year.
Pascal had not fought for more than two years prior to that fight. He had achieved notable wins against Badou Jack and Marcus Browne, as well as a challenging defeat to the current WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in his three most recent fights prior to his layoff.
