Jeison Rosario Speaks On Loss To Jermell Charlo
Jeison Rosario is speaking out on his loss to Jermell Charlo.
Rosario took on Charlo this past Saturday, September 26. Rosario put the WBA (Super) and IBF Light-Middleweight Titles on the line against Charlo, who was defending his WBC gold. In the end, Charlo emerged victorious with an eighth-round knockout victory. It was a jab to the body that got Charlo the win.
Rosario spoke to Franklin Nunez after the fight and he revealed that it was a punch in the sixth round that truly marked the end for him (via BoxingScene.com).
“Actually the punch that came [in the eighth round] did not have the strength of the other [in the sixth]. What happened was that I was already coming out there after receiving that punch that I took in the sixth round, from which I did not recover. My respect for Charlo, he is a great champion. I will continue to move forward.”
Rosario was down for quite sometime after the punch landed. The good news is, he returned home to the Dominican Republic on Monday.
With the loss, Rosario’s pro boxing record falls to 20-2-1. He had gone 8-0-1 in his last nine outings going into the title unification bout with Charlo. This is Rosario’s first defeat since April 29, 2017. Rosario was coming off an upset TKO victory over Julian Williams back in January.
