Jeison Rosario Talks Differences Between Jermell Charlo And Julian Williams

WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO Light-Middleweight Champion Jeison Rosario sees some differences between Jermell Charlo and Julian Williams.

On September 26, Rosario will put his titles on the line while going after Charlo’s WBC gold. The bout will be a part of the doubleheader on Showtime PPV. Rosario is coming off an upset TKO victory over Williams back on January 18.

During a virtual press conference, Rosario told reporters that he sees some differences between Charlo and Williams (h/t Boxing Scene).

“They’re different fighters. In regard to J-Rock, I think he has a little more quickness. But Jermell is definitely stronger, I feel, than J-Rock. But that’s why I had to prepare a little differently this time [for] fighting Jermell Charlo.”

Rosario went on to say that he doesn’t want to downplay the talents of Charlo or Williams by making comparisons.

“I don’t wanna take anything away from the fighters. J-Rock was a great fighter. Of course, he was considered number one [at 154 pounds] when I fought him, which is the pedestal that Jermell Charlo’s [on] now, so you know, they both have their merits. I wouldn’t say which one is a better fighter between both of them. But right now, Charlo is considered the best fighter at 154.”

Rosario comes into his fight against Charlo with a pro boxing record of 20-1-1. He’s amassed 14 knockouts along the way. Charlo’s record is 33-1 with 17 knockouts.
