Jermall Charlo Announces Date Of Upcoming Match With Caleb Plant – “Dang, I Wasn’t Supposed To Tell You That”

Former two division champion Jermall Charlo revealed in an interview that plans are currently coming together for him to face Caleb Plant on January 31st, 2026.

Charlo returned to the ring with success when he faced Thomas LaManna this past May, but prior to that night he had been off since his 2023 win over Jose Benavidez Jr. On the same card back in May, Caleb Plant faced Armando Resendiz in the main event, but fell short on the judges’ scorecards in the Interim WBA World Super Middleweight Title match.

Charlo says he would have liked to have had this fight before the end of 2025, but it seems this fight has been in the works for some time, which is no surprise considering the pair’s history of altercations out of the ring.

While speaking with Brian Custer on his YouTube Channel earlier today, Charlo let the news slip on the targeted date of January 31st, seemingly realizing his mistake immediately, since this was not yet public knowledge. Of course, many things can change before the start of next year, and the news of this bout is not in any way official.

“I’m back. I was calling them out. I’ll show you the messages. I was trying to get a fight before the end of the year and still fight at the top of the year,” said Jermall Charlo on Brian Custer’s YouTube channel. “I guess we’re looking at January 31st. Dang, I wasn’t supposed to tell you that.”

“I want to fight Caleb Plant. I want to get that fight out of the way, because the only fight in my career that makes the most sense. They’re calling it a grudge match. I’m calling it straight boxing. I want to get that fight in and take care of business,” said Jermall.
