Jermall Charlo Arrested For DWI; WBC Strips His Title

Jermall Charlo was arrested and charged following a DWI incident.

Reports indicate he crashed his Lamborghini into another car on April 7 in Houston. Charlo allegedly drove away from the scene. The boxer ignored sirens, telling him to pull over before he eventually stopped a mile later from the scene at a red light.

He was arrested and had a sobriety test. His blood showed his alcohol levels were over .15. The boxer was then arrested for DWI and for fleeing from the scene. Charlo allegedly caused more than $200 worth of damage. No one was injured. He has been released following a bond of $9,500. Kent Schaffer, Charlo’s attorney, has now responded.

“Jermall has been in training. He has not been using any type of drugs,” Schaffer said

Things have gotten worse. The WBC has stripped Charlo of his middleweight belt, with Carlos Adames becoming the interim champion. This is a major setback as he only returned to the sport last year when he beat Jose Benavidez Jr. The win followed after more than a two-year absence from the ring due to mental health issues. Now, there are serious questions over Charlo’s future.
