Jermall Charlo: Demetrius Andrade Never Wanted To Fight Me
Jermall Charlo is convinced that Demetrius Andrade doesn’t truly want to fight him.
Charlo is the WBC Middleweight Champion. Andrade holds the WBO gold. Andrade has made his plans to move up to the 168-pound division clear after his upcoming title defense against Liam Williams. Andrade has cited the inability to get the fights he wants at middleweight.
During an appearance on The Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer, Charlo said Andrade was never eager to share the ring with him (via BoxingScene.com).
“He never wanted to fight. He’s signing all these contracts. Bro, they money hungry. They all want an opportunity. He has nothing. Nobody knows him unless y’all mention Jermall Charlo. ‘Who Jermall Charlo need to fight?’ Then y’all mention this clown. Nobody knows him. He not a record-selling – he not gonna sell out no crowd. Like, he ain’t – bro, like think about what y’all saying. I done watched this [expletive] get dropped so many times. Bro, I will blow his [expletive] mind with these straight right hands. And I promise you, he can’t even last five, six rounds. That pressure different out here. Y’all trippin’.”
Charlo went on to say that Hearn was never serious about a $7 million dollar offer to fight Andrade back in 2019.
“If they offered us the right amount of money – $7 million? I get that anyways. So, to unify, come on, man, make sense, bro. Make sense, man. That’s all cap. Whatever happened between the team, I have never talked to Eddie Hearns, ever, besides on the [Instagram] Live, when he got on my Live, and I got on his Live, in the middle of my joint. Other than that, I don’t know what y’all talkin’ about. That’s all [expletive], I’m tellin’ you, that’s cap as [expletive].”
