Jermall Charlo (34-0, 23 KOs) has identified WBA super middleweight champion Jaime Munguia (46-2, 35 KOs) as his preferred next opponent, saying a victory over Koen Mazoudier on July 25 could put him straight into a world title shot at 168 pounds.

The former WBC middleweight champion steps back into the ring on the undercard of Errol Spence Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu in Sydney, Australia. Charlo has fought just twice since June 2021 — a unanimous decision over Jose Benavidez Jr. in November 2023 and a stoppage of Thomas LaManna in May 2025. A convincing Charlo performance in Sydney could set up the pursuit of that fight.
