According to recent reports that have surfaced online, WBA super middleweight titleholder Armando Resendiz and Jermall Charlo could be meeting in the ring this May.
If things come together, the fight will be featured as the co-main event on the Zurdo’ Ramirez vs. David Benavidez PBC on Prime Video card set for May 2nd in Las Vegas.
Resendiz (16-2) most recently defeated Caleb Plant in a split decision last May to win the interim 168-pound title, but was since elevated to full champion following the retirement of former undisputed champion Terence Crawford. Charlo’s (34-0) last outing, in which he stopped Thomas LaManna in the sixth round, served as the co-main event to the Plant-Resendiz bout.
While Charlo has registered win after win throughout his career, he has only fought three times since 2021, leaving many questioning if he will be able to continue his winning ways with less activity compared to his younger years. Meanwhile, Resendiz has remained much more active recently, recording two wins in 2025 alone, but he is also considerably younger than the former middleweight champion.
At this time, nothing has been finalized for the fight between the pair, but sources close to the situation felt confident enough to let Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger know the bout is up for consideration.
