Jermall Charlo Likely To Be Next Challenger For Armando Resendiz’s WBA Title
It seems in Jermall Charlo’s next outing he is likely to get the next shot at the WBA super middleweight title, currently held by champion Armando Resendiz.
Charlo most recently defeated Jose Benavidez Jr in 2023 and more recently Thomas LaManna last May, both at 168-pounds, but despite these victories many feel he has not done enough in the division to get the opportunity at a world title. It was expected that Jaime Munguía would be the next to challenge Resendiz’s throne, but negotiations hit a standstill, which led to the match ultimately falling apart, paving the way for Charlo to swoop in.
At this time, no formal announcements have been made surrounding the match between Charlo and Resendiz, but according to Boxing Insider Fernando Sabatini, the fight is a done deal.
According to what I found out and what it seems to me, it’s very likely that the fight they announce next Thursday or Friday will be Armando Reséndiz 🇲🇽 vs. Jermall Charlo 🇺🇸 (#3 in the WBC ranking in the super middleweight division).
