Jermall Charlo Looks To Fight In Houston This August
While Jermall Charlo won’t be facing Gennady Golovkin in the near future, the new interim WBC middleweight champion will return to the ring this summer.
Charlo, who earned the title by knocking out Hugo Centeno Jr, in the early rounds of their April 21st fight in Brooklyn, is set to return in August with a fight in his hometown of Houston.
“I was promised [a fight] in August, so probably August in my hometown,” Charlo said after talking with his adviser, Al Haymon.
“Maybe take a nice little – another fight. I wanna stay active because I don’t want anybody to think that I’m not training, I’m not working. So I wanna keep fighting. I wanna deliver the fans some more explosive fights, some more explosive knockouts while I’ve got that window of opportunity right here. So I’m ready.”
Jermall and his twin brother and WBC super welterweight champion Jermell, have been asking Haymon for a headline fight in their hometown since winning their first world titles, with Jermall night fighting in Houston for nearly six years.
