Jermall Charlo: Nobody Knows Demetrius Andrade

Jermall Charlo doesn’t believe the general public knows who Demetrius Andrade is.

Charlo is the WBC Middleweight Champion, while Andrade holds the WBO gold. Lately, Andrade has been trying his hand at the Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes. Recently, the two were involved in a heated war of words during a post-fight press conference after Canelo defeated Billy Joe Saunders.

During an appearance on the PBC Podcast, Charlo said that the reason Andrade doesn’t get big fights is that fight fans simply don’t care about him (via BoxingScene.com).

“I got a big family, big life. [Andrade] ain’t living nothing like me. The opportunity is for him. I’m the lotto ticket in this ballpark. Nobody knows Demetrius Andrade. Nobody knows when he fights, and nobody cares when he fights. He ain’t getting no views. Nobody cares. He ain’t like that when it comes, so he’s just talking.

“The only thing that separates Andrade from the rest of the division is Andrade slipped up on a title that nobody cares about. They want to see Jermall Charlo fight the best in the world.”

Charlo is set to put his WBC gold on the line against Juan Macias Montiel on June 19. It’ll be his fifth title defense.
