Jermall Charlo Says He Won’t Fight Anyone Unless They Have COVID-19 Vaccination
Jermall Charlo isn’t keen on fighting anyone unless they have the COVID-19 vaccination and are 25 or older.
Charlo is the WBC Middleweight Champion. He’s fresh off what many consider to be his most impressive showing to date. He successfully defended his gold against Sergiy Derevyanchenko via unanimous decision back in September 2020. This was Charlo’s fourth successful title defense.
Many fans have been clamoring for Charlo to take on the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin, and David Benavidez. As far as Benavidez is concerned, Charlo thinks the former WBC Super-Middleweight Champion is too young and needs to get a COVID-19 vaccination (h/t Boxing News 24).
“They don’t want to fight me. That’s a little boy. What is he? 23 or 24? I’ll hit him with some [expletive] he never been hit before. You [expletive] are [expletive]. Remember the [expletive] that happened with [Erickson] Lubin? The [expletive] was too young and too dumb. He ran right into that [expletive from Jermell Charlo]. It snapped his [expletive] neck. He [Benavidez] could be my son. I could raise your ass.
“They’re kids. I’m not fighting nobody under 25, and I’m not fighting nobody that don’t take the COVID vaccination. If you don’t get the vaccination, I’m not fighting you. You have to get vaccinated for me to fight you. Boxing is already watered down. You want me to be watered down, broke, and sick? Hell no. Y’all got to take the vaccination.”
Up to this point, Charlo has amassed a perfect pro boxing record of 31-0. He’s scored 22 knockout victories along the way. There is no word on who his next opponent will be at this time.
