Charlo was last seen in action back in September 2020. He successfully defended his WBC gold against Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Charlo earned the victory via unanimous decision. Many believe Charlo found more success against Derevyanchenko than Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs did.
As for Montiel, he’s coming off a knockout victory over James Kirkland. The bout ended in less than two minutes. It was a big win for Montiel, who was coming off a split draw against Hugo Centeno Jr.
Up to this point, Charlo has amassed a pro boxing record of 31-0. He’s scored 22 knockouts along the way.
As for Montiel, his record stands at 22-4-1. All of Montiel’s victories have ended in a knockout. Of his four losses, the biggest one was against Jaime Munguia. Montiel was knocked out in that fight.
