Jermall Charlo To Face Maciej Sulecki On June 18

Jermall Charlo is reportedly set for his next fight, and it’s not against Canelo Alvarez nor Jaime Munguia.

The WBC middleweight champion will make an optional defense of his title against Maciej Sulecki on June 18, Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime said in a joint press release. It’ll be a 12-round main event at a venue to be determined in Houston, Charlo’s hometown.

Charlo was previously speculated to meet Alvarez in a super middleweight championship on May 7, but that deal was rejected as the Mexican star chose to face Dmitry Bivol for his light heavyweight belt on May 7.

When those talks fell through, Charlo’s team turned to another Mexican boxer, Munguia, but those talks also fell apart.

Now, PBC’s Al Haymon has turned to Warsaw’s Sulecki (30-2, 11 KOs). His two losses were handed by former WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade and former IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs.

Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) will be coming off a near-year layoff. He last fought Juan Macias Montiel, which he won via unanimous decision.
