Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez Outpoints Israel Gonzalez
Jesse Rodriguez said he thinks that he is fighter of the year.
Rodriguez fought his way to a unanimous decision against Israel Gonzalez. The bout went all 12 rounds for Rodriguez’s WBC 115-pound championship.
The unbeaten Rodriguez had won on the cards of judges Tim Cheatham (118-109), Max De Luca (117-110) and Patricia Morse Jaman (114-113), who gave Gonzalez five rounds.
In the second round, Rodriguez landed a straight left hand just 20 seconds into the bout, and connected with a right-hand uppercut.
Gonzalez, meanwhile, fought back with an uppercut in the fourth round. He pressed in the fifth round, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Rodrigurz.
In the halfway mark of the bout, Rodriguez forced Gonzalez onto the ropes just before the end of the seventh round.
In the 10th and 11th rounds, Rodriguez maintained control over Gonzalez, who ate punches from his opponent.
With the victory, Rodriguez remained undefeated.
