Jessica Andrade-Jessica Eye Flyweight Fight Reportedly Set For October UFC Event

A change in scenery may end up resulting in endless possibilities for a former champion.

According to ESPN, Jessica Eye and Jessica Andrade will face off against one another on October 17. This will be a flyweight bout. Eye, a natural flyweight, will face off against the former UFC Strawweight Champion in Andrade.

Eye (15-8, 1 NC) made her professional debut in 2010. “Evil” fought for Bellator and Ring of Combat before joining the UFC in 2013. She is 5-7 with one no-contest with the promotion and is 2-2 in her last four fights. She last fought in June, losing to Cynthia Calvillo via unanimous decision.

Eye has missed weight twice in a row following a UFC Flyweight Championship loss to Valentina Shevchenko.

Andrade (20-8) has fought at 135 and 115 since 2011. Joining the UFC in 2013, the Brazilian is 11-6 with the promotion. She beat Rose Namajunas for the UFC Strawweight Title back in 2019 but lost the title to Zhang Weili a few months later. Andrade’s last fight was a split decision loss at the hands of Rose Namajunas at UFC 251.

ESPN’s Bret Okamoto is stating that Andrade will be the first woman in UFC history to compete in three different weight classes.

The October 17 UFC event does not have a specific location yet. Las Vegas or “Fight Island” is currently in play. Gillian Robertson v. Poliana Botelho is another flyweight bout rumored for the card.
