Jessica Andrade Vs. Lauren Murphy Added To UFC 283 Card

Two of the UFC’s top female contenders will meet at UFC 283.

Jessica Andrade will return to the flyweight division to fight Lauren Murphy on January 21 as part of a pay-per-view event. It is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro.

Andrade returns to the 125-pound weight after campaigning at strawweight, where she briefly held the title. The Brazilian fighter is 2-1 in her last three fights; defeating Cynthia Calvillo by KO/TKO and, most recently, Amanda Lemos by first-round submission.

She is on a two-fight winning streak after suffering a second-round loss to flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

For Murphy, she’s remained in title contention thanks to an upset victory over former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate. Murphy bested the UFC star via unanimous decision after five rounds.

That victory put her back in the winning column after a brutal KO/TKO loss to Shevchenko in September 2021.
