Jimmy Smith Released By Bellator

On Friday afternoon, Bellator MMA and their broadcasting network, the Paramount Network (formerly SPIKE) announced that the company had parted ways with veteran announcer Jimmy Smith.

A member of the Bellator announce team since 2010, Smith was a popular member of the broadcast team and their lead color analyst. As Bellator heads into the crowning of a new heavyweight champion and with broadcasts slated for mid-January, one has to wonder who will join the rotating play-by-play announcers of former UFC announcer Mike Goldberg, and current NXT and Showtime Boxing announcer Mauro Ranallo.

Some may think a potential reunion between Ranallo and close friends Frank Shamrock or Bas Rutten, but no details have been announced. You can read the statement from Bellator and the Paramount Network below.
