Joanna Jedrzejczyk Climbs Up Women’s Pound-For-Pound Rankings

The UFC rankings have just been updated following UFC Vegas 39, with Joanna Jedrzejczyk making upward strides in the women’s pound-for-pound list.

Despite not competing at UFC Vegas 39, Jedrzejczyk saw her move to No. 5 in the women’s rankings.

UFC Vegas 39 was headlined by fellow strawweight contender Marina Rodriguez who went up against Mackenzie Dern. Rodriguez put up a clinical performance and won the fight via unanimous decision in the main event of the evening. It was the third straight win notched by the Brazilian, with her other two wins coming against Michelle Waterson and Amanda Ribas.

She moved up in the 115lbs rankings and now stands at No. 4 in the list while Dern dropped down to No. 6 following her defeat to the Brazilian. It was Dern’s first beating since her loss to Amanda Ribas in 2019.

But the news that made the headline was Jedrzejczyk moving one spot up in the pound-for-pound ranks.

Jedrzejczyk is tied up with Jessica Andrade at the No. 5 spot.

Jedrzejczyk last fought in the octagon in March 2020 where she lost to then strawweight champion Zhang Weili. And with no fight lined up for the former champ, it’s staggering to see Jedrzejczyk making the strides.

There was also a movement in the rankings chart of other divisions as well, with Matheus Nicolau gaining 3 spots in the men’s flyweight division after beating Tim Elliott at UFC Vegas 39. Nicolau stands at the No. 8 position overall with Elliott dropping down to No.11.
