Joe Rogan Heaps Praise On Jake Paul’s Striking Technique
UFC color commentator Joe Rogan says Jake Paul’s striking is the real deal.
Paul is a YouTube personality, who has been testing the waters of boxing. On April 17, he will collide with former Bellator and ONE Championship Welterweight titleholder Ben Askren. While Askren isn’t known for his striking abilities, he still has far more combat sports experience than Paul.
During an edition of the JRE podcast, Rogan said that Paul has legit striking (via TMZ Sports).
“[Ben Askren] is strong as f**k. He knows how to grab ahold of guys, and drag them to the ground and implement his style. He won’t be able to do that. His main thing will be out. His main thing will be completely removed.”
“You can watch [Jake Paul] hit the bag, watch him hit pads, watch him spar — he’s got good timing, he’s got very good hand speed, his technique is excellent.”
Paul is 2-0 as a pro boxer with both wins coming by way of knockout. Those victories were against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and former NBA star Nate Robinson. The bout with Askren will mark the first time Paul competes against someone with a combat sports history.
Askren retired from MMA following his October 2019 loss to Demian Maia. “Funky” ended his career with a record of 19-2, 1 NC.
