Joe Rogan Praises Brian Ortega Following Win Over Chan Sung Jung

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is impressed by Brian Ortega’s performance against Chan Sung Jung.

Ortega shared the Octagon with “Korean Zombie” in the main event of UFC Fight Island 6. The bout was contested in the featherweight division. Going into the fight, UFC President Dana White said the winner will be given the next crack at Alex Volkanovski’s 145-pound gold.

Ortega vs. Jung went the distance but it was never close. “T-City” showcased his improved striking throughout the bout. He even dropped Jung with a spinning back elbow. Ortega picked up the unanimous decision victory and many are arguing that this is his best showing to date.

Rogan liked what he saw from Ortega and took to his Instagram account to comment on the fight.

“Congrats to [Brian Ortega) for an excellent victory and a clear statement that he’s used the time off to improve and reach a whole new level. I have always been a fan, but to watch him show such clear improvement over a dangerous contender was really satisfying to see. One of the great things about this sport is watching fighters improve and make adjustments. This victory was an excellent example of that.

Ortega hadn’t competed since his TKO loss to Max Holloway back in December 2018. Ortega had to recover from a knee injury after he was initially going to fight “Korean Zombie” in late 2019. With the victory, Ortega’s pro MMA record improves to 15-1, 1 NC.

During his post-fight interview, Ortega said he’s ready to take on Volkanovski for the featherweight gold. Volkanovski appeared to be on board with fighting Ortega when taking to his social media account.

“Finally we have some direction in this division, get in there and take that #1 spot….that’s all I wanted!!”
