Joe Rogan Displeased With Judges’ Decision Following UFC 284 Main Event
Feels The Scorecards Should Have Swung The Other Way
In Saturday’s main event at UFC 284, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev was able to carve out a unanimous decision victory over current featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski, but not everyone agreed with the judge’s scorecards.
Included in the list of those who disagreed was UFC commentator, stand-up comic and podcaster, Joe Rogan.
Rogan was joined by former UFC heavyweight competitor Brendan Schaub, comedian Bryan Callen, and 10th Planet JiuJitsu founder Eddie Bravo, for a fight companion watch party during UFC 284. The group was convinced that the decision should have gone the way of Volkanovski.

“Oh my God, look at (Islam) Makhachev, he realizes now, he just f*cking lost – 100 percent.” – Rogan as they prepared the decision.
“That’s insane, he (Volkanovski) got robbed,” – Brendan Schaub following the winner announcement
“In my eyes, I thought it was 3-2 (for Volkanovski). Oh my God. This sucks. Listen to the crowd.” – Joe Rogan
Despite the argument from many on this subject, the fact remains that Makhachev still holds the lightweight title, and there is speculation that his next challenger could come in the form of either Dustin Poirier or Charles Oliveira.
Volkanovski called for a rematch with Makhachev in the future, but first he will more likely go back down to 145-pounds for a unification bout with the newly crowned interim featherweight titleholder Yair Rodriguez.
Regardless of the outcome, and the displeasure of Volkanovski’s home country crowd, it was a great fight between two of the best competitors the sport has ever seen.
Absolutely no doubt about it 🔥@MakhachevMMA vs @AlexVolkanovski is your #UFC284 Fight of the Night!
