Joe Smith Wants To Fight These Two Boxers next

When asked who he would want his next fight against, Joe Smith Jr didn’t say who many boxers might have.

Smith said he wants to take the fights that can further cement his career.

“But really, for my legacy, I want to be known as a great fighter, so I would like to fight [WBC/IBF titleholder Artur] Beterbiev and [WBA titleholder Dmitry] Bivol.”

Smith (27-3, 21 KOs) will defend his title against Callum Johnson (20-1, 14 KOs) on January 15 in New York.

The WBO world light heavyweight champion is coming off split decision, technical knockout and majority decision victories over Jesse Hart, Eleider Alvarez and Maxim Vlasov, respectively.

Smith previously fought Bivol in 2019 for the WBA world light heavyweight title, but lost via unanimous decision.

“With this sport you never know,” Smith said.

“If they’re willing to come to me and fight, I’ll take any one of them. Those are the fights I want.”
