John Fury: Tyson Will Fight With Or Without Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury’s father says his son is itching to get back inside the ring and will do so regardless of whether or not Anthony Joshua is next.

Tyson and Joshua are on a collision course to throw leather at some point in 2021. Fury holds the WBC and The Ring Heavyweight Titles, while Joshua lays claim to the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO Titles.

Fury has expressed frustration with the holdup in making this fight a reality. The Athletic reported that a location would need to bring in $100 million in revenue in order for the bout to take place. It appears cooler heads are prevailing, however, as Fury recently showed optimism on the title fight taking place.

With that said, John told Sky Sports that his son would have no problem moving on from the fight if things remain stagnant.

“We will fight anyway, with or without AJ. We have made this quite clear. I hope [Hearn] can make it. He’s trying, doing the best he can.

“You wouldn’t expect [Fury’s promoters] Bob Arum to run all over the world aged 90, Frank Warren is 70. Eddie is just a young man! He does a great job, I like his interviews, he’s a good character, his dad can be proud of him. I hope he hasn’t shot himself in the foot by letting the cat out of the bag too early. I feel that’s what he did because he wanted to be the one to announce it.”
