John Ryder Warns Canelo Ahead Of Their Fight – ‘Here For My Legacy’

John Ryder has vowed to shock the world as he gets ready to face Canelo Alvarez on May 6th, 2023, for the undisputed super-middleweight titles.

Canelo arrives into the bout as an odds-on favorite with a point to prove. Following his loss to Dmitry Bivol at 175 lbs, the Mexican has attempted to rebuild himself, beating Gennady Golovkin in the process.

And as he heals from his hand surgery that had occurred following his defeat to Bivol, Ryder could be the one facing a rejuvenated Canelo.

The latter, though, is looking to cause a shock, albeit an unlikely one, given the Brit’s prior track record.

In his three major fights, Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding, Ryder has come up short in all of them.

And yet, Canelo is not in the best of form. Aside from the Bivol loss, he failed to knock out an aging Golovkin. With that being said, Ryder has talked up his chances.

“I’m excited to fight a legend, I come here for my legacy, and I’ll surprise him,” Ryder

Despite those words, Canelo’s decision to evade an all-Mexican blockbuster clash with David Benavidez has raised claims that he is ducking the ‘Mexican Monster.’

And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
