Johnson Misses Weight, Lobov Fight Still On
Artem Lobobv wanted a measure of revenge, as Conor McGregor’s close friend was set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov’s training partner Zubaira Tukhugov in the co-main event of UFC Moncton, on October 27th.
But, Michael Johnson would be slotted in his place after Tukhugov would be suspended and is possibly going to be fired for his role in the UFC 229 brawl between McGregor and Khabib’s teams.
With only two weeks to get ready, Johnson would miss weight by one pound at Friday’s weigh-ins, forcing him to surrender 20% of his purse to Lobov.
Yet, according to Ariel Helwani, Lobov refuses to take the percentage due to Johnson stepping up on short notice to take the fight.
“I told the UFC to save me the trouble of transferring the cash and just pay him in full,” Artem Lobov told Helwani. ““I show respect where it’s due. Always.”
Lobov looks to end a two-fight losing streak, dropping his last two fights by decision to Cub Swanson and Andre Fili.
