Jon Jones Escapes Brutal Armbar In Title Defense Against Vitor Belfort – September 22, 2012 (This Day In MMA History)
UFC 152 saw one of the most gruesome, yet incredible come-from-behind victories so far.
Jon Jones (26-1) miraculously escaped a nasty armbar lock by Vitor Belfort (26-14) in a UFC light heavyweight title fight.
“I’ve never had my arm popped like that before,” Jones said after the fight. “I was waiting for it to break, I was not going to tap out. I’ve never felt that before.”
Jones is one of the highly praised names in MMA and UFC. Despite not fighting since 2020, Jones is currently on a 10-fight winning streak, which were all title defenses.
Belfort, meanwhile, retired from the sport and has jumpstarted a career in boxing. The 44-year-old is still labeled as one of the greatest in the UFC.
