Jon Jones Finds New Gym After Parting with Jackson Wink MMA
Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones has discovered a new, yet familiar training place following his ban from Jackson Wink.
Jones has represented Jackson Wink MMA throughout his career and has played a crucial role in the rise and fame of the gymnasium. But his recent domestic problems not only have affected him emotionally, but it has also taken a toll on his relationship with his long-time coach, Mike Winkeljohn.
A few weeks ago, Winkeljohn appeared on Ariel Helwani’s “MMA Hour’ podcast show and prohibited Jones from Jackson Wink following a misdemeanor arrest for alleged battery involving his fiancée, Jessie Moses.
Winkeljohn reflected on Jones’ status saying that he won’t tolerate this kind of behavior and will only allow him in his place if he gets his act together.
After being notified of the news, Jones felt heartbroken and decided not to return to the gym in the future.
In a series of tweets, Jones expressed his disappointment stating, “definitely won’t be going back but I will continue to root for all the fighters that are training there. I do believe my training methods and sessions have improved significantly since changing environments. Grateful for all the time I got to spend there, everything has its time.”
Following his ban from the gym, Jones trained in his garage with coaches Greg Jackson and Brandon Gibson. But he knew this couldn’t go for much longer.
“I know I won’t be able to train in my garage forever, eventually I’m going to need more training partners. Mainly wrestling partners and kickboxers. I’m on the lookout for teams that I’ll be able to visit and come train with, maybe get some sparring sessions in.” Jones added in a follow-up tweet.
“I definitely wouldn’t mind traveling a little bit and visiting a few places. You guys got any recommendations?” Jones asking from his fans on Twitter.
Jones took to Instagram and uploaded a video where he announced that he has acquired the membership of Jackson’s MMA Acoma, a gym affiliated with Coach Greg Jackson.

“I want to sincerely thank Gym owner/ coach Nick Urso and everyone at the original Jackson’s MMA program for allowing me to call their dojo my new home base. I was so proud to see the condition of the gym, it was so well taken care of and the energy felt amazing exactly the way it was before,” he wrote.
“It has wonderful memories of my time learning from GSP, Sugar Evans, The dean of mean and so many more. I won my first world title out of this gym. I am grateful to have this comfortable place for both my local and visiting training partners to come enjoy. The best is yet to come!”
