Jones Jr To Fight In February: Possibly Final Fight

Roy Jones Jr. at 49 years old, recently announced that he’ll be returning to his hometown of Pensacola, Florida one last time, competing at Island Fights 46 on February 8th. Many believe that this will be his final fight.

“You should call it my last day at the Bay. It’s my last one for the Bayfront, Civic Center, Pensacola, Bayfront Arena, whatever you want to call it,” Jones said (via ESPN). “So if you want to come to see my last day in Pensacola, be there Feb. 8. That’s my last one there.”

Jones’ last appearance in the ring was in-victory over Bobby Gunn on pay-per-view event, last February. Jones Jr has won 11 of his last 12 fights, h that one loss coming by brutal KO to former cruiserweight contender Enzo Maccarinelli.

According to this article by WSET, Jones will fight journeyman Scott Sigmon, who has faced Luis Arias, current IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Truax, former middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik, and super-middleweight contender Ronald Gavril. Unfortunately for Sigmon, he won none of those fights.

It is unknown what weight class Jones Jr vs. Sigmon will be contested, considering Roy has fought most of his recent bouts at cruiserweight (200 lbs), while Sigmon has fought primarily in the range of middleweight (160 lbs) to light heavyweight (175 lbs).
