Jones Wants MSG Spotlight
Following his win at UFC 239, many in MMA believed Jon Jones would wait until the UFC’s December card to make his return to the Octagon.
Yet, one opportunity that has alluded him since his return in late 2018 is in-play, as Jones may return on November 2nd inside Madison Square Garden.
Jones, a native of Syracuse, would love the opportunity to fight in his home state, which would require no breaks from his training.
“Madison Square Garden in November? Means I would have to jump right back into camp, I think I’m up for it,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “Pretty sure actually. I’m sure one of the boys are out there lurking.”
With no top light heavyweight challenger available in that time-frame. as expected top contender Dominick Reyes and Chris Weidman are fighting one another in October, a possible showdown with Daniel Cormier could happen, or even another top heavyweight fighter.
While the Cormier option entirely depends on his fight with Stipe Miocic at UFC 241, Jones could get Cormier one final time at light heavyweight as he looks to cement his legacy at 205 pounds.
