Jorge Linares Targets A Return In September – ‘I Want Something Good’

Three-division champion Jorge Linares is targeting a return to the ring in September.

Linares has lost his last three fights, one of which was to the eventual undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.

And at the age of 37, Linares has nothing else to prove given that he is at the tailend of his career.

Although that may be the case, the former world champion was spotted calling out the current WBA junior-welterweight champion Rolando Romero

The exchange, as shown above, did not go down well with Romero, who dismissed Linares as the latter recalled.

“I was (sitting) close to him, and I tell him ‘you know what, let’s make the fight. Why you talking too much f****n’ s**t? Let’s do the fight soon.

“He said ‘no I don’t want to (do) the fight, I need to talk with my promoter’ and everything like that. Listen, Romero. Let’s make the f***n’ fight. I’m ready for you. Come on. But you know, and everybody know, it’s not easy for him. He’s f****n’ scared,” Linares

Despite that being the case, Linares stated that he has a few more fights left in him.

“[I plan to fight in] September. I wanted to do it in August, but nobody wants to fight. I want something good. I’m not saying I want a million-dollar fight or a world title. That doesn’t interest me. I already have five belts. What fulfills me is leaving a legacy, as it should be, making worthwhile fights and entering the Hall of Fame as a Venezuelan,” Linares stated
