Jorge Masvidal Calls Out Colby Covington For ‘Excuses’ Following Leon Edwards Loss

It is common knowledge that Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington have not met eye to eye in quite some time, and that clearly has not changed since the former BMF champion has retired from MMA.

Masvidal closed the book on his time with the UFC following a defeat to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 last April. This defeat followed his loss to Covington the previous year, and the subsequent altercation outside a restaurant that resulted in a lawsuit filed against Masvidal.

While not long ago the charges filed were dropped, Masvidal is still going after Covington, most recently in an interview uploaded to YouTube by BroBible. During a portion of the video, Masvidal lashed out at Covington for the excuses following his most recent loss to Leon Edwards, including the claim that he fractured his foot early in the fight.

“He doesn’t know anything about politics,” Masvidal said. “He literally just attaches his name to Trump, hoping that Trump will one day tweet his name or maybe show up to a fight. But, the guy literally knows nothing about politics, knows nothing about immigration laws, knows nothing about 401ks, about foreign policies, domestic policies. He knows nothing.

“All this guy f—ing does is throw his money away gambling on poker and paying for prostitutes to be in his f—ing videos,” Masvidal continued. “So, for him to go out there and involve Trump’s name so much and say, ‘The judges don’t like me because I roll with Trump, and they robbed me because of Trump!’ You’re a f—ing piece of s—.

“Now you’re blaming the f—ing greatest president this country has ever seen for your f—ing s—ty ass loss,” Masvidal added. “You didn’t do a damn thing, and everybody says, even your mom says you’re a f—ing bum. You’re going to blame that on Trump? Because you’re such a f—ing bum? you’re a piece of s—.

“It just shows who he is, and of course now he has a ‘broken foot,’” Masvidal concluded. “Guy’s a f—ing cheating, lying, piece of s—, cop-calling motherf—er. And I can’t wait to see his ass.”

Following his loss to current welterweight champion Leon Edwards back in December, the future is unknown for Covington at this time. While he was able to achieve interim titlehilder status, he has failed to clinch the real thing in three separate outings. That being said, he is still considered one of the best in the world at 170-pounds, and fans can no doubt be on the lookout for his next fight announcement.

Meanwhile, Masvidal has moved on in his career, and is now generating a successful amount of interest with his own fight promotion Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA. His next event is set to take place on March 2nd at the Kia Center in Orlando. The main event will feature two former UFC competitors in Alan Belcher and former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.
